Ordering

How do I order a certified translation of one of the eight standard documents?

Go to Certified documents, choose your document, select target language, turnaround and any extra copies, then add it to your cart and check out. No quote step is needed.

How do I get a quote for something not in the fixed-price catalogue?

Use the estimator on Pricing or any service page for an instant estimate, then send it through as a quote request — or contact us directly with your document and we’ll reply, usually within two hours during office hours.

Can I order without creating an account?

Yes. No account is required to buy a certified document or request a quote.

Can I change my order after I've placed it?

Contact us as soon as possible — changes are possible before a translator is assigned; once translation has started, the completed portion is charged for a cancelled or reduced scope. See our Refund policy for full terms.

Pricing

Why do you publish prices when other agencies don't?

Because we think you should be able to check the number before you commit, not after. Our rate table and estimator are public — you can calculate what a job will cost before speaking to us at all.

What's a Normzeile, and why does the definition matter?

A Normzeile is a standard German billing unit, 55 keystrokes including spaces, sometimes used to price certified translations instead of per-word pricing. Some providers use 50–53 keystrokes, which quietly inflates the line count and the price.

Is the estimator price the price I'll actually pay?

It's an estimate, not a binding quote — the final price is confirmed against your actual file once we've seen it, and for most jobs it matches the estimate closely.

Do prices include VAT?

Yes — every price shown includes 19% German VAT (USt.). The net figure is shown separately in your cart and order summary.

Certification

What does "sworn translator" actually mean?

A translator who has taken an oath before a German regional court — in our case, typically Landgericht München I — and is entered on that court’s public list. Their stamp and signature on a translation is a specific legal credential, not a general quality claim.

Will a certified translation from createtranslate be accepted by my authority?

Translations certified by a court-sworn translator are accepted by German public authorities, courts, universities and registry offices for the document types we handle.

Are you ISO 17100 certified?

Not currently — we won't display a certification badge without a certificate number to back it up. Every certified and professional-tier translation is checked by an independent second linguist before delivery, the practice ISO 17100 itself describes as the four-eyes principle.

How many stamped copies do I receive?

Two, included in the price of every fixed-price document. Extra copies are €7 each.

Delivery

How long does a certified translation take?

Standard turnaround is 2–3 business days. Express (next business day) and same-day (subject to capacity) are available for a surcharge.

Do you deliver digitally or by post?

Both — a signed PDF is included with every certified translation, and two stamped hard copies are posted as standard. Digital-only delivery is available if you don’t need the paper copies.

What are your shipping costs and timeframes?

Germany €4.90, EU €9.90, rest of world €19.90 for stamped hard copies. Digital-only delivery is free and immediate once your document is ready.

Can I get my document faster than standard turnaround?

Yes — Express (next business day, +€29 on fixed-price documents) and Same-day (subject to capacity, +€59) are available at checkout or in your quote.

Data & security

What happens to my document after I upload it?

It's transferred encrypted, stored securely, accessed only by the linguists assigned to your project, retained for a stated window, and then deleted. The full lifecycle is published on Quality & Confidentiality.

Can you sign an NDA before I send my document?

Yes, on request, before anything changes hands — ask when you get in touch or add a note to your order.

Do you use my documents to train AI or machine translation systems?

No — your documents are used only to produce your translation, not to train any system.

Who can see my uploaded file?

Only the linguists assigned to your specific project and, where relevant, the second linguist who independently checks it.
