What happens to your document, who touches it, and where we stand on certification — stated plainly, not implied.
Two linguists, not one
Every Professional- and Certified-tier translation is produced by one specialist and then independently checked by a second, before it's delivered — the four-eyes principle. The second linguist works from the source document, not from the first translator's notes, and checks meaning, terminology and, for certified work, the formal requirements of a certified translation. Nothing is delivered on the strength of one person's read alone.
Translator credentials & sworn process
For certified and sworn translations, the translator has taken an oath before a German regional court — in our case, typically Landgericht München I — and is entered on that court's public list of sworn translators. This is a specific legal status, checkable by the receiving authority, not a general quality claim. It's what makes the stamp on your document mean something.
Confidentiality / NDA
Every document is handled under a confidentiality standard as a matter of course. If your document is commercially or personally sensitive — a contract, a clinical record, a set of financial statements — we'll sign a non-disclosure agreement before you send it. Ask when you get in touch, or note it on your order.
GDPR document lifecycle

Upload
Your file is transferred encrypted (TLS) from your device to our systems.

Storage
Stored on infrastructure located in the EU, accessible only to the linguists assigned to your project.

Retention
Kept for up to 30 days after your project is complete, then deleted from active systems. Invoicing records are retained separately per German law.

Deletion
Deleted on schedule, not on request only — you can also ask for earlier deletion at any point.
Where we stand on certification
We do not currently hold an ISO 17100, ISO 18587, or ISO 9001 certificate, and we won't display a badge without a certificate number and certifying body behind it. What we do instead: every Professional- and Certified-tier translation goes through the independent, second-linguist revision described above — the practice ISO 17100 itself calls the four-eyes principle. We'd rather describe the actual workflow than borrow the authority of a certification we don't hold.
